Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina
what's good
around here?
A guide to Ocean Isle Beach from people who look after houses on it: where to eat, what is on this week, how the beach works, and a small collection of homes we have inspected ourselves.
The mark
what the mark means.
Every home with the mark was measured against a standard in six parts, and the date of its last inspection is on the listing.
You book with the licensed manager of the house rather than through a platform, so there is no service fee on top of the stay.
OIB Property Management cares for every house from Ocean Isle Beach. If something needs attention, the call is answered here.
Each listing carries one honest line about the house from the person who inspected it. We would rather you knew before you booked.
Inspected homes
three homes to begin with.
The standard
a written standard, an inspection, and a date on every listing.
Hotels settled this decades ago: a standard on paper, an inspection, and a name that means the same thing wherever you find it. Houses on the island have never had one. StayOIB is that standard for Ocean Isle Beach, written in six parts and checked by someone who does not own the house.

Each home designed on its own terms, to a standard for what it must have rather than how it must look, plus the hurricane and flood detail this coast calls for.

Other ways to stay
the island's rental companies and inns.
Most of the houses on Ocean Isle are let through long-established local companies, several of them family-run for decades. They are not part of the StayOIB collection, and each links to its own booking site. We send you there and take nothing for it.
The standard
the mark means somebody checked.
A hotel brand solves one problem for a traveler: the name on the door means the same thing everywhere. Houses on the island have never had that. StayOIB is a written standard in six parts, applied by an inspector who does not own the house. Every home that carries the mark has passed all six, and shows the date it did.
Build and design
The standard sets what a home must have, not what it must look like. Each house is designed on its own terms, with plan sizes, finishes, outdoor living, parking and storage that suit its lot, plus the hurricane and flood detail this coast calls for. New cottages are built to it; existing homes are measured against it.
Furnishing and appointing
Beds, linens, a fully stocked kitchen, outdoor furniture, technology, and the welcome. A room-by-room list with approved makes, so that no guest arrives to a bare cupboard or a thin mattress.
Operations
A trained cleaning team prepares every home between stays against a written checklist, with photographs, so the house is clean, stocked and ready when you arrive. Fresh linens on every bed, smart locks, and a line answered day and night. If anything falls short of that, tell us and it is put right straight away.
Guest experience
Everything is set up with care before you arrive: the welcome basket, the island guide in every house, and the small details that make a home feel looked after. If you need anything during your stay, there is someone to call.
Listing and revenue
Professional photography, one voice across every listing, pricing managed by the manager, a review floor of 4.8, and direct booking here, with the platforms as secondary channels.
Compliance
Town rental registration and occupancy tax, insurance minimums, safety items, and association rules where they apply. The basics, confirmed rather than assumed.
How it is enforced
earned once, kept every season.
A home is inspected against parts two through six and given a score. It is either approved or given a punch list with a date for re-inspection. New cottages built to the StayOIB specification are approved at completion; existing homes come to the mark through a management agreement with and the brand license.
Approved homes carry the mark here and in every listing. If the standard slips at two inspections in a row, the mark comes off. We do not make exceptions to fill a calendar.

What the inspector writes
two lines the owner does not write.
Every listing shows the date of its last inspection and one plain sentence about the house from the inspector: the thing worth knowing before you book. We publish it because it is true, and because it spares everyone a difficult phone call later.
There are no guest reviews here. If you would like help choosing, a person on the island will pick the house with you.

Where a business has its own website, we checked it. Where it does not, we show a search link rather than guess. Profiles are free for island businesses; if a sponsorship ever appears here, it will say so. Nothing on this page is a paid review.
